MJF is an international mobile arts festival for youth aged 14-29. Through out the year youth are challenged to create dynamic media in the areas of mobile film, photography, and music. Moving into their 4 year, MJF's mission is to promote mobile creativity in all forms, as well as encourage youth to use mobile technology to communicate and become active global citizens and make positive social change.

What else does MJF do:

  • MJF and their sponsors/partners/supporters execute and develop online and offline arts based educational programs around the world. This includes an online interactive school. Our partners and supporters include Yahoo, MSN, CoverGirl, Xbox, United Nations, Plan International, National Film Board, Schools Without Borders, and many more.
  • MJF develops programs for sponsors including CoverGirl, MSN, iCoke, MTV, Herbal Essences, Xbox, United Nations, Flare Magazine, Movie Storm and many more.
  • MJF executes concert events with some of today's biggest musical artists, including Common and Q-tip, Lupe Fiasco and Emily Haines.
  • MJF runs mobile video and photo camps, and has also developed a series of mobile filmmaking tutorials.
  • MJF works internationally producing documentaries which highlight human rights issues that effect youth at home and abroad. Most recently MJF was in West Africa producing a documentary on forced marriage. "Oasis of Hope" follows the lives of best friends who come from different worlds and religious backgrounds and how they find a common bond in their pain and hope.
  • Forgotten Children: The Story of Haiti's Restavecs explores the impact of domestic child slavery in Haiti through the eyes of a Canadian UN peace keeper, pop singer George Nozuka , Haitian youth filmmakers, and rehabilitated child slaves. And see what individuals are doing to improve their world!
  • MJF has created a unique tool for engaging youth at events. MJF develops and executes mobile creativity contests which work with event promoters/sponsors to engage youth while at the concert, conference or ski hill. These "mobile" camps come equipped with mobile video phones, numerous editing bays, staff who provide assistance to first time creators, and innovative mobile delivery systems for previewing or voting on content.
  • MJF is currently working with Plan International to develop a digital cultural exchange program. This program will link youth, through classroom curiculum, to youth in developing countries so they can begin to exchange knowledge and ideas. Plan Youth and Directors of Change are two examples or platforms developed from MJF's backbone and open-source technology
  • MJF has created a holistic contest model which integrates a multi-platform solution to engage youth across all networks. As well as provides them an opportunity for exposure to a larger audience.
