The eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015 – form a blueprint agreed to by all the world’s countries and all the world’s leading development institutions. They have galvanized unprecedented efforts to meet the needs of the world’s poorest.

Schools Without Borders (SWB) is a youth-run, Canadian charity that is responding to the need to make learning more accessible for today's youth.

What We Do
In partnership with dynamic and established NGOs in Canada, Brazil, Kenya, Nepal, India, and Thailand, SWB provides hands-on/project-based learning experiences for today's youth that:

1.Create positive spaces for young people to develop their skills, experiences and confidence;
2.Provide guidance for youth to turn raw idealism into responsible action;

The Apathy is Boring Project is a national non-partisan project that uses art, media, and technology to encourage active citizenry, outreaching to a broad demographic of youth about how to be more involved in their communities and the democratic process.

Shoot Nations is a joint partnership between Plan UK and Shoot Experience to encourage young people to express their thoughts on issues of power, control and participation through photography and drawings. Shoot Nations aims to use these art forms as tools of cross-cultural, language-free communication.

The 8 Goals Campaign mobilizes Canadian post-secondary students to champion the Millennium Development Goals. Once informed on the issues, we can work together and call for policies to strengthen Canada's contribution to global development.

The Portable Film Festival is an international festival of short film and user created content. It works in the same way as other film festivals the only difference - it's delivered completely online and distributed through portable video devices such as iPods, mobile phones and laptops. As such, we promote the free movement of content from digital and analogue spaces to offline. As a cultural movement, the Portable Film Festival represents the growing democratization of filmmaking and viewing processes around the world.

Shooting People is a community of filmmakers, sharing resources, skills and experience. Members post to and receive daily email bulletins covering all aspects of filmmaking, add their events and screenings to the film calendars, and network with other members at parties, salons and screenings in London, New York and beyond. Members can also fill in online searchable profile cards – which will soon feature video too so that you can upload your films and reels. Actors can fill in separate searchable actor profiles.

TakingITGlobal is an international organization - led by youth and empowered by technology. TakingITGlobal connects youth around the world to find inspiration, information and get involved in improving their local and global communities.
